Now booking spring sessions for class of 2025. You can always get in touch if you have general questions!
Sessions last about one hour and can take place at a location of your choice. The location is usually in line with a senior's specific interest. Past locations have included a dance studio, hockey rink, skate park, gymnasium and horse stables. Heidi knows many great locations both downtown and in the suburbs and she is happy to make recommendations based on the senior’s preferences. We can always just pop to a local park for fresh, outdoor images.
In all senior sessions, Heidi will capture a range of images including head shots, full length portraits and shots showing a hobby or passion (if desired). The top priority is always to allow the senior's personality to come through, whatever that may be.
You don’t need to be super confident in front of the camera in order to have a great session. Heidi will demonstrate how to pose, show you where to stand and talk you through it all.
A parent is welcome to attend and will be put to work as an assistant. Heidi loves to have an extra set of hands around. It’s a fun and lighthearted way for a parent and senior to spend an hour together. If a senior would rather be photographed on their own, that’s fine too.
Advice for girls: Bring two outfits - usually one casual (jeans & top) and one more dressy (cute dress). You don’t have to go full prom dress. Bring various shoes, including heels if appropriate, as well as accessories to match. It is better to throw a few extra things in the car and I will help you narrow it down at the shoot, rather than not have enough options. Important: Avoid flowy tops. These will sag and look unattractive. Opt for tops that are slightly fitted in shape. Also important: Avoid strong patterns. These will detract from your expression. Choose clothes you love and are comfortable in. Layers always look great, for example a jean jacket over a sundress. Hair is best down and makeup should be “normal” - you don’t have to go nuts.
Advice for guys: Layers, layers, layers Bring one or two jeans/trousers/shorts and a whole bunch of tops to layer according to your personality. Include t-shirts, button-downs, flannels, polos, sweaters, sports jackets or jean jackets. Some guys bring a suit if that is their vibe. Important: IRON YOUR CLOTHES. Wrinkles look bad. Bring one or more pairs of nice shoes. Remember belts and socks to match. Shave and moisturize before your session so your face looks sharp.
Yes, most importantly, please bring a happy and relaxed disposition. This is a fun time. You are awesome and these pictures are going to be awesome. It’s not a contest and no one is judging you. Remember that Heidi has three big kids so she is pretty clued up on how you don’t want to look like a dork.
Secondly, you should bring any objects that represent your interests such as a musical instrument, sporting equipment, books or hobby items. These will be incorporated into some of the images but not be the sole focus. You don’t have to bring anything at all. It’s just an option.
Sessions are $200 and do not include any prints or digital images, these are ordered separately. The session fee covers Heidi’s time and talent to create the images. Twins and triplets are photographed as one session, though they will each get some individual time in front of the camera. It is not necessary to purchase a session for each senior.
After the session you will have access to an online gallery of at least 40 images and two weeks to order your favorites. There are no set packages or minimum order requirements. Purchasing digital images is the default and once purchased, are available for immediate download. If you wish to order physical prints or albums just let Heidi know and she will enable those options for you. Clients spend anywhere from $100-$2000 on an order.
Sessions are non-refundable and may only be rescheduled in the event of bad weather.
Heidi does not offer family sessions BUT, let’s be real, with older kids sometimes you do not need a full blown family portrait session, especially if you are trying to just get a shot for your holiday card. So here’s the deal: The whole family can come to the beginning of a senior session. We will grab a few pictures altogether. Just the senior and a parent (optional but welcome) will then stay to complete the full session. The rest of the family can go on their way. The family shot will only take 5-10 minutes and it is recommended that you travel in two cars if you want to take advantage of this perk. Prints and/or digital images of family shots are purchased just like senior portraits and will be included with the senior portraits in your online viewing gallery. This option is for immediate family members/pets only. No grandparents or extended families.
